A Wild Ride: Rapidly Acquiring A Classic Mustang
I really have not had any time to talk on the weblog nearly as often as I’d planned, on account of how much I have been roped into helping my old man fuel his incredibly wacky midlife crisis. Okay, I suppose it isn’t as far out as it could be. How it went, I mean how he showed up was to go and dress himself up like fonzie, and drop by to my crib and proclaim to me, in his jazziest dialect: “Get in, son, you and I are out looking for some classic Ford Mustangs for sale. You heard that right, youngster, it’s about time I buy one.”
Right then and there the two of us were off to some of those creepy vintage car showrooms that you’re pretty much convinced are part of some organized crime ring, and I can’t believe it when the crazy old guy cut a check on the spot, for an extremely well-preserved classic Ford Mustang. It’s quite machine. It sounded amazing too.
I want to point out that I put about that sound in the past tense. It sounded perfect until it totally broke down. My pops says that it’s a quick fix and he just needs to find the right part. Of course, it is not as straightforward to locate 1968 Mustang parts as it was over 30 years ago, but the old man informs me there is a really nice-sized market for them to this day. the the best bet for finding parts for 1968 Mustangs is via web auctions, because you can find them refurbished and occasionally as good as they were 30 years ago. Not necessarily that inexpensive, however… I mean, they are half-century old classic car parts.
I guess it could’ve been worse… He might’ve bought a toupee.
